client: The Unstable Company
In preparation for the limited time joint exhibit bringing together Australian artists v? and micca, I was asked to art direct the print and digital assets used for its promotion. Working off that name “p0rtals” I began thinking of different motifs that could be used to bridge two completely different internal worlds. Working closely with Erica Ko from The Unstable Company, I was able to concept and design key art imagery that was used for reception invitations, print + digital flyers, merchandise maps, and café menus.
Prior to designing the key imagery, I put together a mood board of naturally occurring patterns that resonated with the feeling of looking into another world; Much like putting a sea shell to your ear and hearing the ocean. Inspired by water ripples, sea shells, and light flares, I knew I wanted to incorporate a spiraling shape into the key imagery.
